Stretchin' out right in front of 'em was a water surface that went on forever-*ss.
It was a straight-up massive lake, probably big enough to swallow the entire countryside of Tsukinose whole.
Catchin' the morning sun, it was sparklin' and gleamin' like a literal-*ss jewel.
They never, in a million-*ss years, expected to lay eyes on somethin' like this deep in the mountains.
Without either of 'em sayin' a word, they hopped off the bike and just stared in total-*ss awe, completely losin' their speech.
Shock, excitement, deep-*ss admiration—all kinds of crazy emotions were swirlin' and mixin' together in their chests.
Honestly, if someone straight-up stumbled upon a hidden treasure out of nowhere, this is exactly-ass how they'd feel.
"Hayato, look over there!"
"That buildin' is… …Oh, I get it now. This place is a dam… …Come to think of it, I feel like we learned about this back in elementary school."
"A dam lake, huh… …Man, it's huge as heck, though."
"Yeah, true-*ss story…"
"This water straight-up flows all the way to the ocean, right?"
"Should be, but… …since we're deep in the mountains like this, I can't even-*ss visualize it at all."
"Plus, it's literally-*ss supportin' the daily water supply for millions of people livin' downstream, right?"
"…Man, this is gettin' way too massive for my brain to process."
"…Same here."
They tried scramblin' to gather whatever knowledge and facts they knew to somehow wrap their heads around the scenery in front of 'em, but it just wasn't workin' out for cr*p.
The pool they went to the other day was definitely-*ss big, but the sheer volume of water here wasn't even in the same league. It was straight-up breathtaking.
It was low-key hard to believe this whole-*ss thing was built by human hands.
Even while bein' completely-*ss overwhelmed, their eyes were literally glued to the dam lake.
And so, they just stood there, dead silent.
The morning sun beamed right down on both Haruki and Hayato, while a sudden gust of wind sent ripples spreadin' all across the dam lake.
Compared to the massive-*ss thing right in front of Haruki's eyes, just how d*mn small were human beings after all?
Haruki got hit with a wave of anxiety that straight-up made her feel unsteady on her feet.
Breakin' her gaze for a second, Hayato's back caught by Haruki's eye.
The back Haruki'd been starin' at until just seconds ago―nah, come to think of it, the back she'd straight-up been watchin' ever since they were little kids.
As if it was magnetically-*ss drawn to Hayato, Haruki's right hand reached out and grabbed the back of his shirt.
"―ke."
And then, Haruki let a word slip out that she herself never-*ss expected to say.
Haruki blinked her eyes in total disbelief at what just happened.
Right then, Hayato turned around with a puzzled look on his face, leanin' in to check out Haruki's expression.
"Haruki?"
"Huh? Oh, nah, I mean your back! You've straight-up been draggin' me around by force since forever, so I was just thinkin' how I've gotten to see all kinds of crazy-*ss things just like right now alongside this back of yours."
"Did I seriously-*ss drag you around into stuff that much?"
"Heck yeah you did. That's why, I guess I low-key love that back of yours, Hayato."
"…! I-Is that so?"
"Fufu."
Gettin' his whole-*ss face bright red from Haruki's words, Hayato aggressively scratched his head and muttered stuff like "Oh" and "Urgh" while snappin' his gaze back toward the front.
Haruki placed her hand right over her chest and stepped up to stand side-by-side with Hayato.
Right then, Hayato dropped his hands and let out a single-*ss sigh. Then, he gently-*ss narrowed his eyes.
"This view is straight-up insane, isn't it? I'm dead-*ss sure it's gonna make for a k*ller memory that I'll never-*ss forget for the rest of my life."
"Yeah, true-*ss story. I totally-*ss feel the same way."
"But man, I definitely-*ss wouldn't have come out to see this view if you weren't here, Haruki. It's exactly-*ss because you were my partner in adventure that I was able to track it down."
"Hayato…?"
And then, Hayato let out a smile.
A completely-*ss carefree, innocent-*ss expression that was identical to back when they were little kids.
The exact same look Hayato had on his face back when he used to drag Haruki around and call her his partner in crime.
Oh, this look was straight-up somethin' Hayato only ever showed to Haruki.
Because of that, Haruki got caught up in the vibe too, lettin' out a mischievous "Nishishi." grin just like when she was a little-*ss kid.
Haruki's heart straight-up skipped a heavy beat.
Right then, lookin' low-key embarrassed, Hayato started choosin' his words carefully, talkin' all hesitant-*ss like he had somethin' stuck in his back teeth.
"Oh, well... ...how do I even put this... ...I think I low-key, y'know, like it better when you're smilin' like that, Haruki… …I guess."
"Huh?! Eh… …Oh…"
Gettin' blindsided by somethin' like that out of nowhere straight-up made Haruki's brain go completely-*ss blank in total daze.
But the second those words slowly-*ss sank deep into Haruki's chest, she could instantly-*ss feel the blood rushin' straight to the top of her head like she was literally about to blow steam.
Looks like the exact same thing was happenin' to Hayato too—both of 'em hung their heads with faces red as a d*mn boiled octopus, lettin' a dead-silent, awkward-*ss vibe stretch between 'em.
Haruki's chest was straight-up basin' with noise.
But it definitely-ass wasn't a bad feeling at all.
Then, Hayato casually scratched his cheek with his index finger, and just like he always-*ss did, he naturally reached his hand out to pat Haruki's head―but she softly-*ss grabbed his hand and stopped him right in his tracks.
"…Haruki?"
"No way, that's a no-go."
"What do you mean, a no-go…"
Never-*ss expectin' to straight-up get rejected like that, a look of total confusion washed over Hayato's face.
And then, Haruki knit her brows together lookin' low-key troubled, mutterin' the reason behind it in a voice that was straight-up hard to describe.
"Because, if I get treated the exact same way as your Little Sis (Hime-chan) right now, I'm straight-up gonna turn into a girl in front of you."
It was the type of phrase where Haruki herself didn't even-*ss fully wrap her head around it.
But even-*ss so, that was straight-up the only reason Haruki could possibly give.
After blinkin' his eyes in total shock, Hayato snapped his gaze away and muttered, "My bad."
Haruki shot back with, "It's not like you actually-*ss did anything wrong, Hayato, but…" and they both went back to starin' at the water surface together.
The dam lake perfectly-*ss reflected the upside-down mountains and the sky, sparklin' like crazy under the morning sun.
Sigh. Haruki let out a single-*ss heavy breath.
Squeezin' her grip tight around Hayato's sleeve, Haruki let her own wish slip out, lookin' low-key hesitant to say it.
"Hey, Hayato. There's a place I straight-up want you to go with me."
