Chapter 7Humming
The chime rings.
Immediately the classroom becomes noisy.
I think the open atmosphere of the lunch break is the same in both elementary and high school.
Maybe it will be like this when I become a member of society - I thought as I took my luggage and got out of my seat.
There were several students at the desired location.
I call out to the female student sitting in the center of the room.
"Shin... Rei, can I have a word?"
"What's wrong, Jin-kun?"
I could feel the buzz around me, although I had only called out to her once.
I wonder if this 'name calling' was misleading everyone.
Well, it is Rei's wish and there is no clear reason to refuse.
"Oh, yeah, ...a little bit here, ..."
The classroom is supposed to be noisy, but it feels quite as if there is some strange bottoming out going on.
It's as if she's looking at me - No, it's not like she's looking at it.
It pisses me off to thank him, but thanks to Ryo's prior information, I noticed.
For Shindo, the idol of the school, maybe it's just a routine glance, though.
"Should we move on then?"
"Are you sure?"
"Yeah, of course."
"I also wanted to ask if you had lunch with a friend."
"I don't mind. It's always different."
People around me said, "You don't have to worry about it at all! take your time! If you leave early!??" and so on.
Each time I could only reply, "Ah, ah." or "Oh, oh." and I was in trouble.
I'm sure they are my classmates, but honestly, I don't recognize them and...
I guess I only had a self-satisfied relationship with... I sincerely regretted it. I will be careful henceforth.
We can ask Shindo for the names of each of them later, but for now, let's accomplish our goal.
"I'm sorry, everyone. I'm going out with Jin-kun."
""We're so happy for you!""
What's that shout...
As the two of us exited the classroom, for some reason, our classmates cheered behind us.
It seems that in the past few days, my class had changed into something I didn't know it could be.
"...no, I just didn't know how to get into the groove of the class?"
I must have been talking to myself, but Shindo, walking behind me, answered.
"Isn't that what life is all about? The story is moving where you don't know it is, isn't it? All you have to do is take off your glass shoes and the prince will start looking for you on his own."
"With profound words..."
Is the Cinderella reference a coincidence? Or does Shindo know about her nickname?
I don't have to ask, but I'm kind of curious.
I don't know why I care about it...
Oh well.
Now, where should we move?
It would be nice to be somewhere out of sight if possible.
I felt some stares not only in the classrooms but also just walking down the hallway where the second-year students' classrooms are located.
"~~~~♪."
I glanced at Shindo behind me.
"...What?"
"No, it's nothing."
There is an expressionless Shindo.
That was it.
I wonder if it's my imagination. I thought I heard humming from behind me earlier...
"Where are you headed?"
"Oh, yeah. ...Okay, got it."
"Did you just decide?"
"Like buying dinner."
"What do you mean?"
"We decided on the menu on the spot."
"...Beh, I'm learning a lot."
I don't know why you seem to have a scrunched-up face there.
"Well, then follow me."
"Yes. Everywhere."
I set my destination and walked on.
