One scorchin' day durin' Summer Break.
Out of the blue, Himeko was up and at 'em since early mornin', and Hayato was stuck watchin' a total fashion show.
"Big Bro, how's this one look?"
"Eh, yeah, looks fine, I guess?"
"Ugh, come on! You said the exact same thing a minute ago!"
"I mean, what do you want me to say...?"
Hayato shot back with a totally drained voice.
Spinnin' around right in front of Hayato, Himeko was rockin' a white V-neck under a pale blue camisole dress. The one she showed off before that was a crisp black T-shirt with black skinny jeans, and before that, she had on a white off-shoulder top that showed a lot of skin, paired with some wide-leg pants.
They were all solid "clean-casual" looks that made Himeko's slim figure look pretty grown-up, and they totally suited her. If she hit the streets like that, she'd definitely be turnin' heads left and right.
But to Hayato, Himeko was just his own little sis, period. Since all the outfits had the same vibe, he didn't really have much to say, and you couldn't blame him for gettin' fed up with it by the third round.
"Now, now, Hime-chan, this is Hayato we're talkin' about. It's your own fault for expectin' him to say anythin' smooth."
"Hmph, fair point. Big Bro is Big Bro, after all."
"...You guys are somethin' else."
Sayin' that with a laugh, Haruki popped her head out of Himeko's room.
Looks like Haruki'd been helpin' Himeko pick out clothes, but Hayato just grumbled to himself, "If you girls already picked 'em out together, why are you even askin' me?"
"So Hayato, just curious, but how do I look?"
This time it was Haruki's turn to show off, practically beggin' for some attention.
Haruki had on a see-through logo shirt that clearly showed the black tank top underneath, topped off with a casquette hat. From the waist up, she had that tomboyish vibe that totally threw Hayato back to their days in Tsukinose, but on the bottom, she was rockin' a sweet, ruffled mini tiered skirt.
That weirdly balanced mix of a boyish energy and a girl's cuteness was exactly what made Haruki so d*mn charmin'.
The second Haruki spun around, her short skirt flared up, and somethin' pale blue at the top of her thighs almost flashed him―Hayato freaked out and whipped his head away.
"Eh, yeah, looks fine, I guess?"
It was the exact same line Hayato'd just given his little sis (Himeko), but unlike before, his face was now bright red.
Whether she noticed it or not, Haruki just shrugged with a dry laugh. But Himeko, seein' that reaction, just gave Hayato a major side-eye.
"See, Hime-chan? Hayato is just like—"
"Nah, Haru-chan, I'm pretty sure Big Bro reacted like that 'cause he caught a glimpse of your panties just now."
"―Mya!?"
Haruki scrambled to hold down the hem of her skirt while floppin' down right on the floor.
"Even if Big Bro's Big Bro, if you flash him somethin' that cute and summery... ...well, you get it, right?"
"...No comment."
"U~gh."
As Haruki glanced at them both with teary eyes, she saw Himeko lookin' totally fed up and Hayato scratchin' his head with his ears turnin' beet red. Their awkward consideration only made Haruki feel ten times more embarrassed.
"Yo, you girls good on time? You're meetin' up with Isami, right?"
"R-R-R-R-Right! Okay, we're headin' out then!"
"Whoa, it's gettin' late. Let's move, Haru-chan."
"...Take care, you girls."
Takin' full advantage of the lifesaver Hayato just tossed her, Haruki scrambled out of the house with Himeko in tow.
Hayato watched them head out, lettin' out a long, dramatic sigh.
"Man, Haruki... ...seriously, don't wear stuff so short that you're practically flashin' everyone. What if―"
―What if someone else saw that?
Hayato swallowed the words—a mix of jealousy and straight-up possessiveness—and scratched his head like a madman, tryin' to play it off.
